Covered Species: Overview

The Bakersfield Habitat Conservation Plan (or Plan) proposes to provide a streamlined approach for incidental take of threatened or endangered species for urban development within the Metropolitan Bakersfield General Plan area boundaries. The Plan currently proposes to cover 10 wildlife and plant species, or covered species. Conservation actions in the Plan will be implemented to minimize impacts on covered species. Each covered species will be selected based on its potential to be affected by covered projects and activities, its occurrence in the area, the adequacy of data for the species, and its current or foreseeable threatened or endangered species listing status.
